Advocacy
The United Suburban Schools Association (USSA) was founded in 1991 to serve school districts in the state that were not represented by a national urban school association and who were not rural. The association represents large districts and/or districts located near Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Typically, these are fast growing districts, but not always. Some districts find themselves as a large district among smaller communities and have unique needs for the staff and students they serve.
Since 1991 USSA member districts have been the leaders in Oklahoma education in the use of innovation to improve instruction and student outcomes. Today USSA serves 55 Oklahoma School districts though professional development for school district leaders, advocacy on legislative issues specific to its members, and provides increased services to member districts at the local level.
